Funivia Prada Costabella
Since August 2022, after nine years of inactivity, the Funivia Prada Costabella/Prada Costabella cable car has been running, the lifts have been completely renovated and reopened to the public.
The departure station and ticket office is located in Prada (San Zeno di Montagna-VR). A useful and large car park is available to customers free of charge.
Dogs can be transported on the lifts with a muzzle, which will be issued at the ticket office. Bicycles may not be transported.
The first section consists of the two-seater basket lift from Prada (1,000 metres asl) to Ortigaretta (1,550 metres asl) in about 20 minutes.
For those who want to take a tasty break halfway along the route, the Rifugio Mondini - Baito Turri offers bar and restaurant service, with a wonderful panoramic terrace overlooking the lake.
The second section is the two-seater chairlift that starts from Ortigaretta and arrives at the summit (1,850 metres asl) in 10 minutes.
This trip "Above the lake before the sky" includes along its route all of Baldo's biodiversity. From the beech forest just above the village, one can see the gradual transition to a natural environment that gradually becomes mountain and alpine once the summit is reached.
The flora and fauna change, the climate becomes cooler and purer.
From above, if you look carefully, you can catch a glimpse of numerous marmots on the alert, so-called “Sentinels of the Alps”, because of the whistles they emit when they have to signal danger. You can also spot grazing cows, many species of birds of prey and, on the ridge, groups of chamois can be spotted in the distance.
From the Fiori del Baldo Refuge, located just at the arrival point of the chairlift, there are a series of itineraries of varying levels of difficulty for lovers of trekking and nature walks.
The Funivia Prada Costabella/Prada Costabella cable car takes you on a discovery of a delicate balance, which can only be safeguarded with respectful behaviour towards the mountains and environmental sustainability.
